Activities for 5th Graders
Read grade-level books for at least 30 minutes at a time with good comprehension
Research a topic using a variety of sources, and use the features of a book
Understand that writing involves several steps: planning, revising, editing, rewriting and, sometimes, trying a new approach. Type two or more pages.
Write or type a rough draft of a paper in one sitting.
Collaborate with others on group projects and participate in group discussions by taking turn and listening to others
Use problem-solving strategies to solve real-world math problems
Add and subtract whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Use multiplication and long division to divide large numbers by multi-digit numbers. Memorize 0-12 multiplication facts.
Find volume and surface areas
Learn about energy, the human body systems, and the scientifice method
